From entropy to ontology

چکیده
The theoretical foundations for a definition of distance on ontologies are laid out in this paper. The distance measure is defined using the well known concepts of entropy and mutual information from information theory. These formal methods are adapted for practical use in ontologies through the definition of useful discrete random variables. These include centrality measures like degree, closeness or betweeness.

Assessing Conflicts in Ontologies
We present a method to assess the possible conflict of beliefs in ontologies. Those beliefs represent for example the assessment of an ontology in regard to some goal, i.e. hydrologists may assess a flooding ontology only with maximum flood protection in mind where a politician considers more monetary issues. These different beliefs lead to different interpretations or semantics of the ontology...
متن کاملQuery Architecture Expansion in Web Using Fuzzy Multi Domain Ontology
Due to the increasing web, there are many challenges to establish a general framework for data mining and retrieving structured data from the Web. Creating an ontology is a step towards solving this problem. The ontology raises the main entity and the concept of any data in data mining. In this paper, we tried to propose a method for applying the "meaning" of the search system, But the problem ...
متن کاملTransient Entropy Generation Analysis During Wustite Pellet Reduction to Sponge Iron
The present study carefully examined entropy generation during wustite pellet reduction to sponge iron. The finite volume method was used to solve the governing equations. The grain model was used to simulate the reaction rate. The reactant gases including carbon monoxide and hydrogen were converted to water and carbon dioxide after wustite reduction. Entropy is generated by heat transfer, mass...
متن کاملContext Aware Ontology based Information Extraction
We have developed an ontology based information extraction system where property and relation name occurrences are used to identify domain entities using patterns written in terms of dependency relations. Our key intuition is that, with respect to a given ontology, properties and relations are much easier to identify than entities, as the former generally occur in a limited number of terminolog...
متن کاملContext-aware Modeling for Spatio-temporal Data Transmitted from a Wireless Body Sensor Network
Context-aware systems must be interoperable and work across different platforms at any time and in any place. Context data collected from wireless body area networks (WBAN) may be heterogeneous and imperfect, which makes their design and implementation difficult. In this research, we introduce a model which takes the dynamic nature of a context-aware system into consideration. This model is con...
